Privacy Policy

Overview

Raster AI Studio ("the App") is developed by Raster Compute Labs ("we", "us", "our"). We built this app with privacy as a core principle. The App processes photos entirely on your device — nothing is uploaded to any server, ever. The App does not send any user data to any third-party AI service or cloud service.

What Data the App Collects

The App collects and stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Usage count — tracks the number of AI operations used, stored in on-device UserDefaults, to enforce free-tier limits
  • Processing time estimates — used to show estimated wait times for AI operations, stored in on-device UserDefaults
  • Tutorial and onboarding state — tracks whether you have seen coach marks and first-launch screens, stored in on-device UserDefaults
  • Subscription status — verified locally through Apple's StoreKit framework to determine whether Pro features are unlocked

None of the above data is transmitted off your device. It is not sent to Raster Compute Labs, any third party, or any server.

Data We Do Not Collect

The App does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • Your photos or edited images
  • Personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Crash reports (we do not use third-party crash reporting services)

On-Device AI Processing — No Third-Party AI Services

The App does not use any third-party AI service, cloud AI API, or remote inference server. All AI and machine learning features run entirely on your device using Apple's CoreML framework and Neural Engine. Your photos are loaded into device memory for processing and are never transmitted off the device.

The App includes the following on-device models:

  • LaMa (Large Mask Inpainting) — used for AI Erase / object removal
  • Stable Diffusion 1.5 — used for AI Fill / text-guided inpainting, runs locally via CoreML
  • IC-Light — used for AI Relight / lighting adjustment
  • MobileSAM — used for Smart Selection / object segmentation
  • Real-ESRGAN — used for image upscaling
  • Depth Anything V2 — used for depth estimation
  • Apple Vision framework — used for foreground/background segmentation

All of these models are bundled with the App and executed locally on the device's Neural Engine and GPU. No image data, prompts, or processing results are sent to any external server or AI service.

Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your photo library so you can open photos for editing. This access is controlled by iOS permissions and can be revoked at any time in your device's Settings. We do not access photos beyond what you explicitly select for editing. Photos are processed in device memory and are never uploaded or shared.

Subscriptions & Payments

In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs the processing of payment data.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

The App uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service, to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand which features are most popular so we can improve the App.

TelemetryDeck collects:

  • Which tools you open and use (e.g. Relight, Erase, Stylize)
  • Which presets you select
  • Whether you apply or cancel an operation
  • Basic device information (device type, OS version, app version)

TelemetryDeck does not collect:

  • Your photos, images, or any content you create
  • Personal information, names, emails, or account details
  • Precise location data
  • Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data

TelemetryDeck generates anonymous statistical identifiers that cannot be traced back to individual users. No user consent dialog is required because no personal data is collected. For more details, see TelemetryDeck's privacy policy.

Rewarded Ads

Free-tier users may choose to watch a rewarded video ad (provided by Google AdMob) to earn bonus AI uses. Watching ads is entirely optional — it is never required to use the App.

When an ad is shown, Google's AdMob SDK may collect certain device and interaction data as described in Google's privacy policy. This may include:

  • Device type and OS version
  • Ad interaction data (whether you watched or dismissed the ad)
  • IP address (used by Google for general location and fraud prevention)

We do not share your photos, personal information, or any app content with Google. The App does not use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and does not participate in cross-app tracking.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

  • TelemetryDeck — anonymous usage analytics (see above)
  • Google AdMob — optional rewarded video ads for free-tier users (see above)
  • Apple StoreKit — subscription and purchase processing

No third-party AI services (such as OpenAI, Google AI, Anthropic, or any cloud AI provider) are used. No third-party crash reporting services are integrated. Your photos and content are never shared with any third party.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the App collects no data transmitted off-device, it complies with COPPA and similar regulations by design.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
